Two weeks ago, I didn't know much about wikis, but I liked the idea that everyone could use them to share stories. If you are like me, you may be a bit nervous about the idea of adding a story to one of the pages. Don't worry, it is very simple to do - and if you accidentally wipe out a page, I have backups.

When I sent out the first invitations to people, I made them "read only" as this way, you don't need a password. To contribute, just let me know by email and I will change you from "reader" to "contributor". I am hoping we will get contributions from all over the world.

Just a few guidelines to help with sharing stories:

  • You are welcome to contribute your own stories, or stories that you have permission to share. If you don't have permission from the storyteller, please send me the story and I will ask for their permission.

  • The goal is to share stories of people whose achievements come from what they have, and know, and are. While outside help is great, and supports many things local people do, our emphasis is on stories of achievements that began locally. (It is what the academics call "asset-based community development").

  • If you don't want to contribute a story, you can post comments on the various stories by using the Comment button.

  • Because wikis are participatory technology, sometimes people post items on wikis that aren't appropriate. I will remove these.

A dear friend told me that Teilhard de Chardin said: "The future belongs to those who can offer a reason for hope." You are helping to make the future by sharing our achievements. Thank you for doing so.
