Body heat generated by the 250,000 passengers who travel through <st1 :place w:st="on"></st1><st1 :city w:st="on">Stockholm</st1>’s central railway station each day will provide up to one-fifth of the heat needed in a neighbouring 13-storey office building – the first time such excess heat will be transferred from one building to another. Standard heat exchangers in the station’s ventilation system can convert the excess heat to hot water which will be pumped to the nearby office block and converted to basic heating in the offices. It is hoped that this will meet 5-15% of the building’s heating requirements.

University Tuition Sponsorship: The Villages Group sponsors nine university students from the South Hebron area, and another three students from Deir-al Hattab and Salem villages in the Nablus region. Tuition and expenses cost about $750/student, of which we cover $500 per semester. Next year we hope to be able to support more university students as well as students on a vocational track such as electricity, secretarial and cosmetology.
Susya Alternative Energy Project: Working with other Israeli, Palestinian and international groups, this collaborative effort has successfully installed two wind turbine and solar power cells that are capable of powering lights and other small electrical appliances. Families can now take comfort from some modern amenities and a sense of solidarity from people living far away. Each energy system costs about $6,500 and our plan is to eventually provide electricity to 13 families who are living in near primitive conditions.
and Salem Salem. A vacant p

"The essence of our project is partnership, and the strengthening of partnership with time," the group says. "As the situation worsens, our partnership deepens, and the Palestinians' need for financial assistance increases. This financial assistance is crucially important, yet it is a result of the relationship, not its cause. As Abed of Salem once said: "Even if you bring nothing, we will be so happy to see you. You don't understand what it means for us when you arrive…"
The group believes this partnership "could be (and is) seen as a model. Many Palestinians in other villages, and many Israelis we know, are ready to experience a similar future of joint action, with help and coaching from us and from other experienced activists. Perhaps we cannot bring about a general peace, but we can perform deeds of peace."
their work. work. Grandmothers have emerged as the 'unsung heroes' of a continent in which an estimated 13 million children have been orphaned by AIDS - a number that may rise to 20 million in the next four years. Grandmothers bury their own children and then in their 50s, 60s and 70s begin to parent again, raising their grandchildren with little or no support. In some countries, 40-60% of orphans live in grandmother-headed households. These courageous and resilient women have no time to grieve. Their priority is the next generation: the infants, toddlers, and teenagers who are left behind.
The campaign’s goals are to raise awareness in Canada about Africa's grandmothers and their struggle to secure a hopeful and healthy future for Africa's children; build solidarity amongst African and Canadian grandmothers in the fight against HIV/AIDS; and actively support groups of grandmothers in Africa who are dealing with the painful loss of their own children and struggling to care for AIDS orphans. Funds will provide grandmother

From the offspring he has kept 11 and sold another 10 to supplement his income. Like many farmers with buffaloes, Kongsin uses more manure and less chemical fertiliser.
